ABB has recently finished work with Jet Propulsion Lab to finalize completion of the etch process for the flight hardware on the Mars Science Lab. Liftoff was in August, 2009. The etch process has proven itself with the succesful landing of Phoenix Mars lander in May of 2008.
ABB teamed up again with more areospace companies in December 2009, and developed and implemented the etching process for the next unmanned spacecraft. It contains even more etched components than both the Phoenix Mars Lander and the Mars Science Lab.
